Students in SME

My name is Mariya Polyakova. I’m from Russia.  I’m a CSC Master student, my major is Engineering Mechanics.

I was born in 1994 in Penza (Penza is the capital of Penza region, it’s a Central part of Russia that belongs to the Volga Federal district. Penza region is a homeland of such great people such as Mikhail Lermontov, Vissarion Belinsky and Vsevolod Meyerhold)

I spent childhood and school years in a small town Nizhny Lomov.  I was a good student and in my spare time I studied dance. Then in 2012 I got into the Penza State University. My major was Design and Production Support of Mechanical Engineering. In addition to studying, I took a part in university activities. I held the position of Chairman of the trade Union of students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. I had a special scholarship for my academic achievements and participation in non-curricular student life. Every year during the summer holidays I worked at a machinery plant to acquire practical skills.

After I was graduate in 2016 me and my friend decided to go to China to continue our study as a Master students. We were lucky to got into a SWJTU. At first, it was difficult to get used to the customs and culture of China, but thanks to the responsiveness and friendliness of the Chinese people, the adaptation period was easy.  Here I have a new hobby. Now I like to travel. I have already visited about 15 cities in China and 6 countries.

I’m now in my fifth year of studying in China. Despite some complications, I am very happy to study at SWJTU, and I am very grateful to my supervisor Professor Jiang and his students for their help and support.
