Southwest Jiaotong University has always paid great attention to the development of mechanics discipline since it was established in 1896. School of Mechanics and Engineering was established in 2008 supported by the mechanics discipline. The mechanics discipline was conferred the initial order doctor degree of solid mechanics in 1982. It established post-doctoral research station of mechanics, obtained the first-level doctor degree of mechanics in 2005, owned four second-grade disciplines, including solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, dynamics and control, engineering mechanics.
Nowadays, School of Mechanics and Engineering owns two specially-appointed professors awarded by “the Thousand Talents Program”, a “mutual hired” professor from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a specially-appointed professor and a chair professor awarded by “the Cheung Kong Scholars Program”, a winner of “the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars”, a teacher teaching at the national level, a science and technology innovation talent of “the Ten Thousand Talents Programs ”,an entrant of “The National Youth Thousand Talents Program”, an Overseas Dean, three teachers awarded by “the Talent Project from Education Ministry” and four teachers awarded by “the Thousand Talents Program of Sichuan Province”, two “Humboldt Scholars”, six teachers awarded by “The academic and technical leader of Sichuan Province”, five winners of “The Distinguished Young Scholars of Sichuan Province”. Nowadays, we built a national mechanics foundation of basic courses, a national mechanical experiment, teaching demonstration center and three national excellent courses. Otherwise, we own two national teaching teams of basic mechanics and engineering mechanics, a youth science and technology innovation team of Sichuan. The major of engineering mechanics is named as a state-level characteristic discipline.
Our school owns good conditions in science research, teaching and experiment. Total assets of the equipment are more than 50 million yuan. We have successfully created a national mechanics foundation of basic courses, a national mechanical experiment and teaching demonstration center, a key laboratory of applied mechanics and structural safety of Sichuan Province, a key laboratory of strength and vibration of Sichuan Province in universities.

1.Categories, Requirements/Qualifications and Treatments
A.Academic pacesetters
Requirements:
The candidate, no more than 50 years old, should be engaged in renowned universities or institutes (corporations), with an academically significant influence on the international academy, and also could lead an academic development in the university. The returnees should act as professors or as similar positions overseas, while domestic candidates should be distinguished professors or chair professors, whose employment terms are on due and who are finally evaluated as excellent “Chang Jiang Scholars”. In addition, the candidate also could be widely-accepted scholars and engineering experts in certain domestic and oversea field, or well-known professors specializing in mechanics.
Treatments (details discussed personally):
For high-level returnees:
1. Once employed, the candidate would directly be recognized as the professor as well as the doctoral tutor, and employed as “the chair professor” of the university particularly assigned.
2. Probably an implement of annual salary.
3. Start-up funds of scientific researches, offices, labs, equipment and the like will be guaranteed in accordance to requirements for the work, and specialized research institutes and researching teams will be set up whenever it is necessary
4. During the employment period, the candidate would be provided with rental houses. The spouse, satisfying requirements of our recruitment, would be preferably employed, whereas he/she will gain monthly settlement allowance (more than locally minimum income and for 3 years) if not be qualified for positions. We will offer international traveling expenses annually while the spouse is abroad during the term of employment. Furthermore, we would positively facilitate children’s education in Chengdu.
5. For foreign staff, SWJTU is responsible for applying the long-term work and residence permit in China. Commercial insurances will be supplied in reference to insurance standards in the university.

Requirements:
The candidate, no more than 45 years old, should be engaged in renowned universities or institutes (corporations), with an academically important influence on the international academy, and also could lead an academic development in the university. The returnees should act as associate professors, assistant professors or as similar positions overseas, while domestic candidates should be professors or at corresponding positions in universities in China. The winners with one or more kinds of national awards would preferably be taken into consideration.
Treatments (details discussed personally):
For high-level returnees:
1. Once employed, the candidate would directly be recognized as the professor as well as the doctoral tutor, and employed as “distinguished professor” of the university particularly assigned.
2. Probably an implement of annual salary.

Requirements:
The candidate, no more than 45 years old (talents specialized in humanistic and social science aged no more than 55), originally with a higher proficiency than that of other researchers in the same academic field and with potentially great development, should be capable to surpass or to maintain an internationally advanced performance, or specialize in R & D of high-tech products and in the transformation of scientific achievements. Returnees should have gained doctors’ degree from prestigious universities overseas or worked abroad for over three years. The winners who have been selected into national or provincial talents programs preferably would be taken into consideration.
Treatments (details discussed personally):
(1) Offering start-up funds of scientific researches.
(2) Providing the settling-in allowance or subsidy of rental residence.
(3) Assisting to solve difficulties in children’s education.
As for exceptionally outstanding returnees, we could provide the system of annual salary. Furthermore, the candidates could be promoted as professors or associate professors after the employment and also can apply to be selected as postgraduates’ supervisors.
D.Excellent graduated post-doctors and doctors
Requirements:
Doctors (generally less than 35 years old) and post-doctors (generally fewer than 40), should be graduated from famous universities at home and abroad. Those who learned in renowned colleges or institutes overseas are preferably taken into consideration.
Treatments:
The candidates will be provided with settling-in allowance, subsidy of rental residence and start-up funds of scientific researches. As for outstandingly doctoral returnees, we can offer the system of annual salary, as well as start-up funds of scientific researches and subsidy of rental residence.
